Taxi and private hire firm is expanding
Taxi and Private Hire Firm Round-A-Bout Travel are going from strength to strength despite the recession; they have extended their fleet of vehicles and they are now looking to take on more drivers.
The Westbury-based taxi andprivate hire firm are well known for their signature black Vauxhall Zafira and Vectra taxis with white logo writing on the front doors.October saw them purchase a 10 plate Vauxhall Zafira to add totheir fleet of vehicles. Including owners Sarah and Tony Earney, they have five drivers and they are now looking to take on two new drivers – they are looking for aweekend and a full time driver.
Company owner and founder Sarah Earney said, “We have decided to take on more drivers so I can concentrate more on the office and paperwork side of things – it is becoming more and more difficult for me to find time to do driving as well as managing the business as it is growing. It is a big step to take but, even with the current climate we think it is the best way forward for us. We have been turning away a lot of work, especially at the weekends, for the past six months.
”Round-A-Bout Travel was first established in the Westbury area in July 2004 by Sarah, but after meeting her future husband Tony she moved herself and the business to Trowbridge as he had been a taxi driver in the town for many years and was working for a Trowbridge firm at the time. In June 2006 Tony made the step to joined Sarah and they bought another car for the business. They concentrated on developingthe airport transfers – covering Westbury, Warminster, Trowbridge and surrounding areas.
After marrying in December 2007 Sarah and Tony Earney decided they would move the business back to Westbury and did so in June 2008. Tony Earney said, “It is the best decision we have ever made, the business has really developed and we are going from strength to strength.
”Round-A-Bout Travel came up with the idea of offering customers set fare rates if you travel with them. Sarah Earney said, “Our set fares have really taken off. Around Westbury for one pickup and one drop off for a normal car between the hours of 6am and midnight we charge a maximum of £4.00; for a vehicle carrying up to six people it is a maximum of £6.00. Our set fares rise between midnight and 2am then again at 2am until 6am but it does not increase by as much as the meter rates and our customers definitely get value for money!“
As well as offering deals on local Westbury journey’s, Round-A-Bout Travel also offer set fares from town to town. For example Westbury to Warminster or Trowbridge is a maximum of £11.00 for a normal car during the day and they have set fares from Westbury to all local towns or vice versa.
“We have been very lucky withour customers, and new ones generally come in via word of mouth,” said Tony. Sarah added “The customers we have are very nice people and are extremely supportive; because we offer a really good service at very good rates!”
Sarah said she keeps an eye on things very closely to make sure the taxis are in top condition, aswell as being clean and comfortable for the customers, as there is nothing worse than getting into a dirty car!
